Talofa, is the Samoan greeting meaning hello.

This series of images was inspired by the high levels of respect shown by the Samoan people for their traditions and culture.

With day to day life structured around the worship calendar, Sundays are often reserved for church and rest, with the actions of most recreational activities being frowned upon.

The Matai or ‘chief’ of each local village is responsible for looking over the land and the people who reside there, as well as ensure their village is self sufficient and continues to maintain order.

Although aspects of the traditional culture have changed due to interactions with the West, many aspects of the Fa’a Samoa (way of life) still thrive today.
